USABILITY
Usability refers to the ease-of-use, or user-friendliness of a website. It is the most important aspect of any website, because it is the key factor that will turn a visitor to your website into someone who calls you, or buys your product, or participates in your discussion, or subscribes to your newsletter. Good web design, good code, good content, good information structures, and good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) are all vital to a successful website - together they result in a great user experience.
Balancing our client's needs with our client's clients needs
We get responses from our clients' customers saying that they really loved the new website, and that it was so easy to get the information they wanted (even if it was just the company phone number...). We're happy that they loved the site, but we're most proud that all of the skills we brought to making the website resulted in that person finding what they wanted, quickly and easily. It means they'll come back.
When we plan a website, we balance the aims of the business - to make sales or to generate interest in the company - with the aims of the business's customers - to buy something or to find out information about that company. We do this by keeping good usability practices in mind - which means keeping the website's visitor in mind.
More than just Usability Practices
Good usability practice says that you should make a button look like a button, so that visitors don't have to guess which is the button. Keeping the visitor in mind when we prepare content, plan information structure, design and code the site, makes sure that the button is in the right place, looks like a button, says the right words, and has well handled error and confirmation codes attached to it.
