AFRICA!IGNITEVISIT THE AFRICA!IGNITE WEBSITE
Africa Ignite do a lot of things: They distribute an isiZulu newspaper through their RAIN distribution networks which accesses over 6800 school deep in rural KwaZulu-Natal; They publish books celebrating the spirit and creativity of the people of KwaZulu-Natal; They develop crafts for cause-related marketing; and in all of these enterprises they help individuals to set up their own entrepreneurial ventures, from journalists working for the newspaper, to the bakkie driver delivering ballot boxes for the IEC, to crafters who develop products.
Copywriting - the most valuable skill
The people at Africa Ignite can write - they write the books that they publish - and this has been remarkably useful. One of the key factors to putting a website together is creating the words, sentences and paragraphs that will go on the pages. Having this skill in-house has enabled Africa Ignite to create good content, and to develop new content quickly.
We helped them determine the structure of the site, and the result is a site that delivers information of great complexity easily and well.

from our client
"Black Square did a superb job of revitalising and modernising our website; what’s more, their calm professionalism made the process easy and stress free for us. They guided us ably through the technical side of what was possible and worked creatively within our budget constraints. Their impressive grasp of the nuances of our organisation and what we do came through in their technical and creative design of the site and we are thrilled with the outcome."

Operations Manager, Africa!Ignite Google Maps
We started working more with Google Maps on this project and we're completely impressed at the level of flexibility that Google allows us as designers of online content.
Africa Ignite has recently published a book called Burning Bright, which covers the lives of 12 extraordinary women in KZN. What we were able to is to overlay short introductions to these women onto a Google Map, allowing for a quick "tour" of the book, and giving a unique overview of where the women live.
